What’s a blog?

Understanding the question

Well, after first entry you know some information about me and my purpose with this blog but, What's a blog?  Of course, this question cannot be solved with just one answer because there a different definitions depending on the purpose of the author.

Acoording to the examples of this unit, we can find four different ideas different from each other:

  • Example 1 : Shows a clear format of a learner blog according to TS3 and have the same aim that mines, as is in the ICT and Classroom dynamics for CLIC subject.

  • Example 2:  This is a business oriented.  professional blog in which the responsablity lies on an organization instead of one person. So, the way the authors adress visitors is more formal compared to a personal blog.

  • Example 3:  Similar to the previuos one, as it gives resources for teachers interesed in CLIL. Nevertheless it has a less pressional appearance as well as a more informal register.

  • Example 4: A personal blog focused on resources for poestry teaching. It promotes participation of the viewers asking for examples of poems with the same objetive as the exposed in the blog. It has an informal lenguage.

In order to clarify a bit more the idea of what is a blog, it may be useful the following resources:

  1. https://firstsiteguide.com/what-is-blog/
  2. https://makeawebsitehub.com/what-is-a-blog/
  3. https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/what-is-a-blog-and-how-is-it-different-from-a-website-explained/

From my perspective I feel than a blog should have an informal style in order to catch the attention of as much people as possible. I preffer examples 1 and 4, because I think it's easier to have a sender-receiver communication in both directions due to the closer relation between them. This is key for improving the learning process of students as they become active part of the class instead of beaing passive just reading the information. The idea this concept is to promote the motivation.

So what´s your opinion? How do you think a blog should be?

Task 5: Redefining learning and teaching using technology

Hi there! Today I would like to show you this video of  Jason, a student passionate about ICT use in education working with Microsoft to promote the use of technology in the classroom. Nowadays, technology is part of a big variety of aspects in our daily life, and children are more get used to it than children of the past. That´s why I choose this video because I feel the student perspective is really important to take into account the teaching strategies in this day and age. Jason, expose that if the technology is part of our life and have transformed it, why don't use it to boost the learning process. His arguments show that students must be an active part of the lessons and ICT have a key role here. Especially, show how a motivated student could learn better. Hope you enjoy it. Jason’s speech
