As we are dealing with language issues, why don't we focus on the primary word that resume the theme of this blog? Energy, could have different meanings depending on the dictionary we use. Let's have a look different definitions:
Oxford Dictionary:
1.The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.
2.Power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work machines.
3.The property of matter and radiation which is manifest as a capacity to perform work (such as causing motion or the interaction of molecules)
Webster Dictionary:

2: vigorous exertion of power

If I have to choose one of them, the decision will depend on the context. Oxford and Webster could be applied in a more formal or professional context. Nevertheless, I would use Wordreference for my searches and I would encourage my pupils to do it as well. The main reason is that you can have the literal translation as well as a forum in which they discuss about different meanings in different contexts. As language is something alive, is an important reason to take this dictionary into account.
Nonetheless, there is a more appropriate option for students than wordreference. It is the learners dictionary. I feel this, because the huge variety of examples and the type of definitions. They are focused on people interested in learning so they can be better understood. As well, I think that giving the option of leave comments could be more attractive to students, which are more familiarized with this type of interaction on the internet.
But, dictionaries are not only places where search meanings. They can also help you to practice and improve your level. Don't you believe me? Try this funny quiz and you will discover it.
