Task 5.2: CMS resources

Hi there!

If you read my last entry you can have an approximate idea of the Content manage systems (CMS) world, because they are a kind of LMS but applied to the education field.

Taking these into account, I would like to share with you different web sites based on CMS tools:

Sites created with Drupal:
Sites created with Joomla:
Sites created with WordPress:
Sites created with Php-Nuke:
Sites created with Zikula (it used to be the official one for Catalonia, but now most of them have moved to WordPress and Moodle):
Sites using Mestre a Casa (official web offered by Conselleria):
Sites directly using Moodle as site and VLE:

As they are a lot of links I would like to make my own recommendation in case you are interested in using them. If you want to implement this systems in your classroom I would take into consideration the most important factor. Are you one of those teachers who prefer flexible and less professional environment or do you prefer more templates that show a more organized view?

If you are part of the first group, please research Wordpress examples for having nice examples of its use. On the other hand, if you prefer the second kind of features your choose should be Joomla!

Do you agree with me? Please let me know your thoughts

See you here!

Task 5: Redefining learning and teaching using technology

Hi there! Today I would like to show you this video of  Jason, a student passionate about ICT use in education working with Microsoft to promote the use of technology in the classroom. Nowadays, technology is part of a big variety of aspects in our daily life, and children are more get used to it than children of the past. That´s why I choose this video because I feel the student perspective is really important to take into account the teaching strategies in this day and age. Jason, expose that if the technology is part of our life and have transformed it, why don't use it to boost the learning process. His arguments show that students must be an active part of the lessons and ICT have a key role here. Especially, show how a motivated student could learn better. Hope you enjoy it. Jason’s speech
